40.  Sacrifice

Heart sobbed no
	Mind cried no
Spake tongue yes
	She left him

Two weeks is she gone
	Bravely he endured the first
At the end the longing crept in
	His desires and the sob and cry
Into letters poured he
	Come back, I cannot endure

Was she as brave as he?
	Did she battle the first week
Then to weaken as he
	To hearken to his cry, his sob
The second week has gone by
	There was to have been a third
