Such tenderness, such compassion
He, who has been so passion eaten
Cannot understand, cannot deserve
Tho he has proclaimed "I love you"

Yet, so it is rendered him
He, who so proclaimed, the miracle
Thru all these and those qualities
Missing, that content harbors him

Woo thee by tongue, woo thee how?
Woo thee by sign, woo thee silent?
Woo thee by laughter, wooed by tears?
Woo thee by joy, answered in sorrow?

My love, spake he, fly with me
Where? How? Why? When?
Questions, needless, fruitless, trustless
Need I say I love you.  Silent be.
