GENERATIONS Copyright (C) 1997 by Not Nice Music II. A COLLECTION OF OBSCURITY by Edwin M. Drogin 46. Untitled (Life) Life is something that creeps up on us when we are least prepared for its onslaughts and least aware of its significance. It is only in times of comparative quiet that our thoughts turn to an appraisal of our motives and we rationalize actions already undertaken or contemplate future attitudes. It is at such times, when awareness of self is most acute and prejudices are subdued by the mollifying influence of unobstrusive surroundings, that we reach our most profound conclusions nd make our most serious resolutions. In a sense, deep pleasure or despair prevents a thoughtful mood. We feel most content and comfortable when we are sitting back in a contemplative mood with, perhaps, some beautiful music in the background. What do you? Well and good The things that pleasure calls its own And evil cannot claim. Never an action that remorse makes known. For duty is its logic And others wicked deeds never excuse The things that conscience whispers are not yours to use. Claim joy is an erring thing With ecstacy to wait for chance winds The mind's pleasure is a delicate Rose that can wait for choice winds. Will, for in will lies perfection What of perfection? Who chooses not constant happiness needs correction.
