COVID-19: NYC Quote of the Day 2020-06-27

Friday, June 26, 2020, NYC Mayor de Blasio Ask the Mayor - Can DOE High School Students Get Stuff Out of Their Lockers?

Question: I just graduated two high school students, one of them goes to a DOE school, the other one goes to a CUNY high school. He was able to get in to get his stuff out of the locker, but the one who goes to a DOE school is not. The DOE, the Chancellor, the superintendent aren't doing anything to reunite our kids with their stuff. Can you help us?

Mayor: Yes. Thank you for the call. I did not know that, and this is a great example of the glory of your show because hearing directly from people brings up whole new issues. I don't understand why we can't set up a system to do it. It'll probably be a little bit of a hassle and not necessarily happen overnight, but we can get it done. So, I will talk to the Chancellor directly. Let's figure out a way to do it. I'm glad you told me.
